Career and Technical Student Organizations are professional organizations in which students learn leadership skills and work together toward common goals, whether it be winning a competition or supporting a food drive for the local food bank.  CTSO’s are prevalent on Caddo Career & Technology Center’s campus. CTSO’s are not extra-curricular activities such as school clubs, they are co-curricular organizations which support the academic learning and technical skills students learn in their career and technical classes. Student benefits gained by joining a CTSO include: leadership skills, networking opportunities, resume building, competitive activities, and fun times.  CCTC career and technical student organizations include; FCCLA (Future Career and Community Leaders of America), DECA, FBLA(Future Business Leaders of America), and SKillsUSA.  In order to understand the enormity and extent to which CTSO’s are a part of career and technical education one can look to the fact that when a person Googles “the importance of career and technical student organizations” you get 8,930,000 results in 0.41 seconds.  The large number of results indicates that CTSOs are flourishing, and with good reason.  These organizations may be the first ones a student joins that give them skills to succeed in the world of work. Many of the CTSOs at CCTC partner with local industry to provide job skills and opportunities to student members.
